Shipping and Returns


  • Coat Check Chicago offers free shipping via UPS Ground Service and free returns within the 50 United States.
  • For all other countries and expedited shipping, please see our shipping rates at checkout.
  • "In stock" items will ship out within 1-2 business days of your purchase.
  • If your item is "out of stock" at the time of purchase, we will notify you within one business day with an estimated shipping time.
  • Coat Check Chicago will accept returns within 30 days of the date on which your order has arrived.
  • Coat Check does not accept returns or exchanges for items purchased from a retailer other than
  • To request a return or exchange, please email with your order number and details. We will then email you a return shipping label.  Please use your original box if possible.
  • All returned merchandise must be received by Coat Check Chicago in its original condition, not having been worn.
  • Returned items that are damaged or altered will not be accepted.
  • We will send you an e-mail notification once your return is received and approved to be in good condition.  If you are approved for a return/exchange, a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within 5 business days.


  • Coat Check Chicago offers "in stock", "pre-order", "made to order", and "custom" coats and jackets. Please reach out to us directly if you need an item immediately to determine if your item is "in stock." Otherwise, expect that you item may need to be "made to order."

  • Pre-Order: Occasionally Coat Check Chicago offers sales and discounts on "pre-order" items. During a pre-order sale, we accumulate multiple orders that are then produced in small batches and shipped to our customers at the promoted delivery date. Pre-orders can be returned within 30 days of their arrival to you under our return policy.

  • Made to order: Since we have the ability to make our products locally here in Chicago, most "out of stock" items can be made within 2-3 weeks of your purchase. Please note "made to order" items are made individually to OUR size standards and are not custom items (made to your measurements.)  Unfortunately, due to the labor involved to individually cut and sew one item, we cannot offer discounts on "made to order" items, however we do offer returns within 30 days of their arrival to you under our return policy.  

  • Custom: If you are interested in a custom piece please email and I will see what I can do!  Custom pieces ARE made to your measurements but will require numerous fittings and consultations in order to "get it perfect."  Custom items are not returnable and will require a non-refundable deposit upfront.

  • In Stock:  We do carry a small but very limited stock of our products, so if you see something you like...add it to your cart before it's gone for good!  We work in limited edition fabrics and limited edition colors so there is no guarantee that it will always be there.
